Kayla's Chic Treats

Oh, hi there! My name is Kayla.

Welcome to my little world of cakes!

I live in Danville, IL with my three huge fluffy Newfoundland Dogs (400lb’s worth woofta!) Self-taught, my love for baking started when I was in middle school when I found a recipe for a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cheesecake. I didn’t let it chill long enough, decorated it, and still ate it! It was delicious!!!

“If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own backyard” – Dorothy Gale, The Wizard of Oz

My Dad owned his own practice in Danville, Dillman Eye Care. He was a name in Danville not only as a doctor, but, as a man. People loved and respected him, and he loved the community. I still get people to this day and before he passed away saying “I don’t know who I’m going to go to now for my eyes!” He was THE eye doctor to go to! I am my father’s daughter in many ways, but especially in entrepreneurship. My dad got to see my building be built but he didn’t get to see me start the business. I have so many things I wish I could ask his advice on every day. I want to be another Dillman in Danville that people can rely on. A Dillman they know and trust and a business they can rely on for their baking needs!!!

I love learning and practicing all the beautiful designs that make me stand out and be different than any other cake that people typically see! I hear people call me “the cake lady” and I absolutely love it! I want to be THE cake lady to go to!!

Baking has always been more than a job to me. It’s been my friend when I am sad. A stress reliever when I’m anxious. It makes me feel like I am part of people’s lives in some small way! I am asked to bring a 5-year-old a smile on his birthday, a memory on a 50th anniversary, a surprise for a loved one, and my personal favorite, weddings. I get to bring a vision to life that some brides have dreamed of since they were little girls. One of the things you think of first is the wedding cake, right?!

“I used to think a wedding was a simple affair. Boy and girl meet, they fall in love, he buys a ring, she buys a dress, they say I do. I was wrong. That’s getting married. A wedding is an entirely different proposition.”- George Banks, Father of the Bride

Weddings!! I love the entire process! From the wedding tasting and getting to know the couple and creating the vision all the way to the wedding day and setting up at the venue! Seeing the bride’s faces or hearing from them later is literal music to my ears and a smile that is hard to explain, knowing I will forever be a small part of their lives. Even better when I get asked to make desserts for the baby shower, anniversaries, or children’s birthdays!!
