How to care for your treats

  • Refrigeration

If your cake has the following it should stay refrigerated until 4-5 hours before cutting:

    -Fresh fruit or preserves

    -A curd/custard type filling/topping

    -Cream cheese or fruit buttercream

    -Meringue filling/topping

    -Cheesecake

Cakes without the above ingredients can sit out at room temperature covered.

Cakes can be in the refrigerator uncovered as long as they have not been sliced!

    When are cakes best?

Cakes are best at room temperature. Take out your cake at least 4-5 hours before cutting. That being said, if you don’t mind eating cold cake, have at it whenever you please!!!

Left over cake! How do I store it to keep fresh?

Cover the exposed part of the cake with saran wrap and recover the cake in a box or container. Again, if it does not have the above ingredients, it can stay out on the counter covered. Otherwise refrigerate it!

Sliced cakes last about 1-2 days before getting dry even with the saran covering.

    Freezing your cake

Let sit in freezer unwrapped (except for exposed area if it has been sliced) for 1 hour. Then wrap the entire cake in double saran wrap, then cover it with a double layer of foil. When you want to eat it, place in refrigerator over-night to thaw out. Place out on counter to come to room temperature (just remember if it has ingredients that need to be refrigerated to not let it sit out too long).

You can also cut into slices and freeze that way. Double wrap with saran wrap and then foil.

How long will my uncut cake stay fresh?

Cakes that have not been sliced are good for up to 3 days (recommend refrigeration if not serving day of pick up)

Frozen cakes can last a few months, but the quality of taste may differ depending on flavor profile and how well you stored it.

    Cupcakes/Trifles

If need refrigerated, take out 2-3 hours before serving.

Cupcakes tend to dry out much faster so make sure they are always covered until about 30 minutes prior to serving!
